Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-09

These Terms govern your use of Dark Envelope ("Service") — an encryption library and hosted cryptographic API operated by PinkyBot.io. By using the Service or installing the package you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Dark Envelope provides AES-256-GCM encryption via a downloadable npm package and a hosted API (encrypt/decrypt/seal, key management, audit log, team features). Paid tiers (Pro, Team, Enterprise) unlock higher rate limits and additional features.

2. Subscriptions & Payment

Paid tiers are billed as recurring subscriptions via Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel anytime; access continues through the paid period.

3. Refunds

Subscriptions may be cancelled to stop future billing. Refunds for the current period are considered case-by-case within 14 days — contact [email protected].

4. License

The npm package is provided under the MIT License. Your encrypted data and keys are yours; we never have access to your plaintext or master keys.

5. Acceptable Use

Do not use the Service for unlawful purposes or to exceed your tier's rate limits via circumvention. We may suspend accounts that abuse the API.

6. Disclaimer & Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties. You are responsible for securely managing your own keys; lost keys cannot be recovered. Liability is limited to amounts paid in the preceding 12 months.

7. Changes & Contact

We may update these Terms; continued use constitutes acceptance. Questions: [email protected].
